Who Are You People (2023) HD Like many narcissistic Gen-Z teenagers, Alex is offended by Carl’s displeasure at seeing a daughter he never knew. What Alex finds in Carl is a very flawed person. He was an alcoholic, although he had sobered up for some time. Carl is also distant from his violent father. Then there’s the story behind Alex and why she never knew about Carl. What I love about Who Are You People is that writer/director Epstein refuses to take the easy route. in telling this story and in character development What the filmmakers do beautifully is load the narrative with stereotypical characters. Then refuse to let those characters fall into those stereotypes. Carl is a loner who wants to spend the rest of his life with his head down. He goes to church with Sarah, which is a little comforting. However, Alex’s arrival forces him to confront his past. and the results are not the same
