One of them was Donatella Colasanti, 17, who was trembling but alive. Another 19-year-old Rosaria Lopez had died. Two attackers have been found and one may have escaped the Circeo massacre while the rape and murder will be known. Shaking up Italian society, it was 1975, and the aggressive crime committed by three young men who attended San Leon Magno, a famous all-male Catholic high school, was a reminder of misogyny, class and fascism. In his 2016 novel The Catholic School Albinati attended the same school as the accused. And his semi-written story uses crime as a lens to examine the inherently toxic environment of institutions and conflict. in the film version which premiered in Venice Italian director Stefano Mordini has translated Albinati’s novels into an uneven and sometimes distressing cinematic experience.
